40X40/SENTENCED TO LIFE, 2008-2009

From artist's description of the piece:

The activity is arranging 28 panels (40cmX40cm is the size of each panel) - dissembling them and than arranging them again. In a crawling position, on my knees, I unfold the pile of panels into various path like arrangement and patches on the floor and, at set intervals, I chant a Hebrew vocal piece which is a prayer for peace.

In the on going arrangements and dissembling, of the panels, various signs, such as X, recur as well as a face of an elderly woman. There is a sense of recurring patterns. This performance has much to do with patterns, in life, and one`s constant attempts to decipher them.
Technically, this performance does nor require anything other than a spacious outside or inside space.
